A Family Friendly St. Patrick’s Day

The last week has spurred a lot of changes in our lives. From social distancing, to school closures, to an understandable amount of anxiety, we know how important it is to connect with each other and celebrate the little things to help keep our spirits high.

So, we have a few ideas for those of you who find your normal St. Patty’s Day plans have been cancelled and are struggling to find anything to celebrate.

Bring the outdoors indoors!
So we’re staying at home a little more than usual these days.  If you’re in Seattle, like us, you know the weather has been a bit dreary, and let’s be honest, it’s not helping our mood. So we got to thinking, how can we bring our need for the outdoors into our homes?

Check out the amazing offerings on your streaming services. Our personal recommendation this week is the hour long specials “Over Ireland” and “The Island: Ireland from the Air” . Both can be found on Amazon Prime Video and are free to stream with your prime account.

Over Ireland is great for the entire family! Especially the little ones that you might have home and are getting a little restless.

Turn the day into an at home adventure.
Maybe it’s taking a bit to adjust to a home school schedule. Ease into it and turn St. Patty’s day into a whole craft and adventure day. Before you sit down with the family to watch Over Ireland, take some time to up your adventure game and put the kiddos to work.

Make some DIY paper binoculars or as the blog, “Love Your Littles”, calls them, Leprechaun Lookers!

Treats worth a pot of gold!
You know us too well to think we would suggest celebrating St. Patty’s Day without including some treats. We have two family friendly recipes you can make together and enjoy while you’re spending time on your Irish adventure.

Mint Chocolate Chip Float with DRY Vanilla Botanical Bubbly

Place two scoops of the ice cream in a glass and top with DRY Vanilla Botanical Bubbly. Top with whipped cream and shave dark chocolate over the top using a vegetable peeler. Best for the adults to do this to avoid injured fingers.

The kiddos are sure to enjoy this themed treat.

DRY Irish Iced Coffee

In a measuring cup, mix the hot coffee, brown sugar, cinnamon, and rum extract. Set aside until cooled. Once cooled, fill a glass with ice and pour in the cooled coffee mixture leaving room. Top with DRY Vanilla Botanical Bubbly. Garnish with Whipped Cream, a dash of cinnamon, and green sprinkles. Add a mint sprig for style. Sit back and enjoy a moment to relax.

We hope this gives you a few easy ideas on how to make the most of your time at home with your family. So from our DRY family to yours, Happy St. Patrick’s Day 2020!
