The Guide to Zero-Proof Cocktails
A note from our CEO and Founder, Sharelle Kalus, on our latest project. The Mocktail book that will have even the pickiest cocktail connoisseur trying zero-proof options.
The Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, I received a very special delivery: the final copy of The Guide to Zero-Proof Cocktails the book that we had started at the beginning of the country’s lockdown. The last time I was this excited to open a box was when I was 8 and I opened the Donny and Marie microphone that I had circled in the JC Penny Holiday catalog.
This book is such an incredible tribute to our mission of social drinking for EVERYONE. This desire I had 15 years ago to change the way people think about drinking and celebrating has taken a giant step forward with this guide.
I am most proud of our team who challenge themselves daily on how to help create a world where zero-proof is the norm. This challenge got even harder when Covid-19 hit. But instead of getting discouraged, this team doubled down on creativity and dedication to the mission and announced they were going to write a book – a book that would inspire people to include zero-proof in their lives. No one on our team had ever written a book or knew anything about publishing, but they moved forward and found a way around every obstacle (there were a few tears and a few F-bombs here and there). But their dedication and passion to create a beautiful book was inspiring and the result is nothing short of spectacular.
The recipes, many created by some of Seattle’s best mixologists, are fun and incredibly tasty. A few of my favorites include Jermaine Whitehead’s Down to Earth Cold Brew, Megan Fitzpatrick’s Sparkly Dog, and Bridgett Bottles’ Highland Fog. And I love that in addition to the recipes we teach people how flavors work together and challenge them to create their own amazing drinks. The world has changed so much in the last 15 years and now there are so many great products out there to help create delicious drinks, and I am proud that we get to introduce people to several of these products in this book.
So here is to you discovering your favorite recipes in the book and creating some of your own.
Cheers! - Sharelle
