FareStart – Better Food. Better Lives.

Here at DRY, we’ve been working with FareStart for ten years, and we are consistently in awe of the amazing work they do in our community. The Seattle-based organization is a culinary job training and placement program for disadvantaged and homeless individuals.

They’ve been operating in the PacNW since 1992, providing opportunities for thousands of students each year, while serving millions of meals to disadvantaged people around the Emerald City. Day to day, they’re busy teaching classes and giving on-the-job training, while operating a wonderful restaurant in the South Lake Union neighborhood (aka, Amazon land), which employs several of their students. They also host weekly guest chef nights, bringing in talent like Tom Douglas, Thierry Ratureau, Matt Dillon and Ethan Stowell, to work with their students to prepare a three-course meal.

If you are interested in learning more or finding a volunteer opportunity, please visit www.farestart.org. We hope you’ll be inspired to help.

Cheers!
